This was purchased for my husband's birthday. Not knowing much about them I relied on what he'd wanted, chose Stanley because my father always relied on it, and crossed my fingers. It only needed a little honing to get the blade in top condition. I noticed it fit very comfortably in my hands, and cut through the wood smoothly when we tested it out. The blade's holding it's edge nicely after several uses already, and he's very pleased with it.
